Booster Water Heating

When it comes to cleaning and sanitizing tableware, natural gas booster water heaters are the clear winners in terms of cost and performance. Compared to low temperature chemical rinse, gas booster water heating offers cleaner looking tableware, faster production and drying times, and up to 73% savings in annual operating costs.

Furthermore, high temperature sanitization is gentler on your tableware and dishwasher than corrosive chemical sanitizers. A typical 44" rack conveyor dishwasher operating 6 hours a day at 70% capacity saves about $3,148 annually with a high-efficiency gas booster water heater (see chart). The initial cost of the gas booster water heater and installation is recovered in less than 2 years and then the savings go straight to the bottom line, every year.

	Pilot Light

	Recently Roger Harris of Largo Piping and Gas provided the following helpful information. The pilot light orifice is the determining factor to gas usage. Standard orifices are .009 and .010, but can range from .008 - .012 and larger. BTU consumption for different orifice sizes is shown below: .008 will burn 519 Btu's/hr. .009 will burn 656 Btu's/hr. .010 will burn 812 Btu's/hr. .011 will burn 981 Btu's/hr. .012 will burn 1,169 Btu's/hr.
